Monkey Baby Shower Invitations

Whether used as part of a safari theme or simply to add a whimsical touch to something more traditional, monkey baby shower invitations are a great way to welcome your own little monkey into the world! Try out the instructions below to make monkeys at home, or search online for a great pre-made design.

Monkey Face

This design is as charming as monkey baby shower invitations get, but it’s also simple and easy to make. You will need scissors, brown and flesh-colored construction paper, plastic googly eyes or buttons (available at craft stores), a glue stick, a set of circle  stencils, a hole punch and a roll of pink, blue, or yellow ribbon (optional). If it’s not possible to find circle stencils, a template can be traced around a teacup for the large pieces and a shot glass for the smaller ones. Envelopes for these invites can be bought separately or made from high-quality folded paper at home.

Step One

First trace and cut out one large brown circle approximately 4 inches in diameter for the monkey’s head, and two small circles (1 in) for his or her ears. Then cut a medium-sized flesh-colored circle for the lips/muzzle, and two circles just slightly less than one inch across for the inside of the ears. Cut the muzzle circle in half, and glue the two pieces just 1/6 of an inch apart from each other on the lower half of the monkey’s face, so that the space creates a line for the mouth. Then glue the flesh circles inside the brown circles and paste them behind the face so that only half of a circle shows on each side.

Step Two

Voila! Now that you have a basic monkey head, take the googly eyes or buttons and paste them about an inch apart, centered in the middle of the face with the bottom edges up against the top of the medium flesh-colored circle that has become your monkey’s muzzle. Draw cute little eyebrows for an expression if you like. If a spool of ribbon was purchased, use the hole punch to pop out two holes about a quarter of an inch apart over one of monkey’s ears, and tie a little bow through them to dress him or her up for the party still to come!

Other Ideas

If handmade monkey shower baby invitations still feel like a bit much, consider ordering a customized design online, or checking out local retail stores to see what’s in stock. Online artisan marketplaces like Etsy.com offer some really unique options as well. Monkey baby shower invitations don’t have to be complicated; if you like, simply purchase blank white cards and a variety of nicely made monkey stickers, and create easy homemade cards by adding the stickers and writing a personalized message inside each one.

Monkeys are adorable, and monkey baby shower invitations can be a perfect way to welcome any new addition to the “jungle.” Whether you purchase cards or design your own, try to add a personal touch to any invitation, showing guests how much their love and support for Mom and the new baby is appreciated.
